The Preparatory year in the Romanian language is intended for foreign citizens who do not know Romanian and wish to attend undergraduate or postgraduate studies in Romania.

The preparatory year can be accessed by EU, EEA, SC and NON-EU candidates if they meet the following requirements:

• Graduation from an accredited high school in the country of origin and recognized by the Ministry of Education. The list of secondary school diplomas recognised by the Ministry of Education can be checked by accessing the attached file: Lista diplomelor recunoscute de ME

• For citizens from EU member states, EEA, SC as well as british citizens and their family members as beneficiaries of the agreement on the withdrawal of the united kingdom of great britain and northern ireland from the european union and the european atomic energy community 2019/C 384 I/01: the original diplomas from Italy, Greece, Spain, Portugal and Cyprus will be endorsed with the Hague Apostille. while other EU member states are exceptions. • The non-recognition of high school studies by CNRED will result in the loss of student status, as well as the forfeiture of all fees paid up to that point.

• For NON-EU citizens: Baccalaureate and Bachelor's diplomas will be authenticated, as appropriate, or will be accompanied by an authenticity certificate issued by the competent authorities of the country of origin; the authentication will be applied by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the issuing country and the Romanian Embassy/Consular Office in that country or by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the issuing country and its Embassy/Consular Office in Romania and the Romanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs; for countries where there are no diplomatic missions of Romania or which do not have diplomatic missions in Romania, the study documents will be endorsed by the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the issuing country. • The equivalence of grades will be done according to the equivalence grid issued by the Ministry of Education and Research, which can be consulted by accessing the attached file: Sistem de notare

For a Preparatory year followed by a Bachelor’s degree, the final admission average will be 100% the baccalaureate exam average (To break ties between candidates with the same admission average, the criteria from Article 6.10 of the Methodology are applied) and for a Preparatory year followed by a Master’s degree, the final admission average will be 100% the average of the Bachelor’s degree (To break ties between candidates with the same admission score, the criteria from Article 6.11 of the Methodology will be applied).

For candidates with educational documents issued in countries where the baccalaureate/equivalent examination average is not awarded, the overall average of the secondary school years will be taken into consideration instead of the baccalaureate average.
